"Looking good is part of feeling good. To a greater or lesser extent we all spend time and money on our appearance – at the hairdresser, in the clothes shops, at the cosmetic and perfumery department. For years we have heard of celebrities going one step further by having cosmetic surgery, and many of us would feel that is one step beyond nature that we wouldn’t take even if we could afford to . . . but listen to this.

What if you could go to a clinic, have a simple non surgical treatment that took years off your appearance and was affordable?

The use of Botox and fillers at S-tox clinic fills that gap between the cosmetics you buy at the pharmacy and the surgeon with his knife, and you will be surprised that these aesthetic treatments are now reasonably priced. These treatments are skilfully administered to reduce the depth of wrinkle lines without otherwise affecting your appearance.

Important points regarding S-tox clinic treatments

  • Both Botox and Hydrafill filler are intrinsically extremely safe products to use.
  • They both have a temporary effect – botox typically lasts for about 3 months and filler for about 6 months.
  • Treating wrinkle lines at a young age (typically starting in 30s or 40s) helps reduce the rate at which lines are naturally deepening with time. This is particularly true of botox treatment, because relaxation of facial muscles greatly reduces skin flexion.

What is Botox?

Botox is a purified protein produced by Clostridium Botulinum bacteria which causes prolonged relaxation of muscles. Treatment is aimed at specific muscle groups responsible for facial expression, and the amount of relaxation depends on the dose given. The typical outcome is reduced muscle tone at rest, with some retained ability to contract the muscle – so that facial expression isn’t lost, but the lines are.

Treatment requires a few injections with a very fine needle to give a virtually pain free reduction of activity of the muscles of facial expression. The effect is apparent from 3 days, maximal by 2 weeks and lasts typically for about 3 months.

Outside of aesthetics, Botox can be used also for a variety of medical conditions, typically in much higher doses. The dose required to cause harm is many many fold higher still, and so its use in aesthetics is thought to be extremely safe.

What is filler?

The filler used at S-tox clinic is Hydrafill softline. It contains hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance within human skin. Hyaluronic acid draws large amounts of water into the skin and consequently is responsible for the plumpness of young skin. Natural levels decline from 3% at birth to 0.007% at age 45.

Injecting Hydrafill into the dermal layer of skin restores the fullness of the skin, so flattening out wrinkles. It does not effect muscle tone, and so is particularly appropriate for use around the mouth area where full muscle tone is required for speech and eating.

Being a naturally occurring skin substance,

  • it is biocompatible - and therefore very safe
  • biodegradable - making its effects temporary, typically approx 6 months"
