Crossroads

  • Offers "care for the carer", by providing practical support such as using trained staff to take over the caring responsibility, so that the carer can have occasional or regular planned breaks. Free of charge to the carer.
  • Also offers day care at two centres in Chelmsford, and a Drop-In Centre for advice and information about benefits, equipment, and other agencies who can help.

This is a service for the over 60's who are residents of the Borough of Chelmsford. It can advise on repairs or adaptations to your home, discuss funding for the work, help apply for grants or loans if available, liase with social services or the local authority, and lots more . . .

This service is also for the over 60's living in the Borough of Chelmsford. It offers minor repairs to your home, and will fit handrails, grab rails, and they can perform a free Home Safety Check.

  • No labour charge if you are on means tested benefits

Shopmobility

Shopmobility is a service run by Chelmsford Borough Council loaning an electric powered scooter for shopping in Chelmsford. Ideal if mobility is difficult. Phone this number to book your scooter or make further enquiries.

Supra UK 

This a firm that makes a gadget called a keysafe. This screws to a wall near your front door and can only be opened by pressing your secret number on the keypad. It is a safer place to keep your spare front door key than under the door mat, and you can give the "keysafe" number to neighbours, carers and health professionals.
