In this section you will
find information about the vital statistics of our practice We have been recording facts and figures about our practice, the illnesses that affect our patients, and the way we work, for the last 16 years. In November 2007 we had 3,550 patients on our list. As a whole we have a larger number of elderly people on our list than most practices (see age profile), so this affects the kind of diseases we deal with. For example, we also have greater numbers of diabetics and people with heart disease than a lot of other practices in the area, and these numbers have increased greatly over the last 10 years (see chronic diseases). In the last year to November 2007 the surgery performed 16,474 consultations, an increase of 17% from 2001. We have 12% more patients than we did in 2001. This means the workload is increasing faster than the patient numbers, and this is due to the increasing number of people with long term illness. Missed appointmentsIn the year to November 2007, 475 people didn't keep their appointments. If all the missed appointments are added up it makes a total of 86 hours and 14 minutes. Long term illnessWe regularly monitor the way we look after our patients with chronic illnesses ("chronic" means long term), and some of the results of these audits are in this section.
