People who have had a stroke or TIA (mini stroke) benefit from treatment with aspirin or warfarin to help prevent further episodes. They also need their blood pressure well controlled. Happily, the number of people smoking is decreasing, because smoking increases the risks of strokes. The control of our patient's blood pressures has improved after last years disappointing results. In some cases it is just not possible to reach the ideal levels of blood pressure because of lack of effect of medication or side effects of the treatment. We are going to check the records of those who don't appear to have had their blood pressure taken and contact them to invite them for a check if necessary. |
