CO-VID VACCINE

Chelmsford City Health PCN (Primary Care Network) of which Stock Surgery is a member, will shortly commence COVID vaccination clinics, the delivery date is yet to be confirmed.  We will be contacting patients after reviewing their records to ensure those most at risk are invited first.  Our first delivery will allow for vaccination of just under 300 patients.  PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US to make a booking if you do not receive an invite. Further invitations will be sent out once we are provided with confirmed delivery dates from the national supply.

We will be inviting patients to book via text message using AccuBook . This will allow you to book online.

Patients without mobile telephone numbers will be contacted via email or their home telephone number.

Our designated site for delivery of the vaccination is Whitley House Surgery, Crompton Building, Writtle Road, Chelmsford CM1 3RW – DO NOT CONTACT WHITLEY HOUSE SURGERY DIRECTLY.

Parking will be available and volunteers will be guiding patients to parking spaces and then on to the Surgery.  Vaccinating staff will be provided by all surgeries from Chelmsford City Health PCN.

If you receive an invitation and are not available to attend the first sessions please let us know as soon as possible so that we can contact the next patient on the list. You will then be invited for the next vaccination sessions.

If you have been invited to book, you can call the surgery but request this is only used where the patient has difficulty booking an appointment and does not have a family member or friend to assist.

Vaccination Volunteers

The Chelmsford Centre Supporting Voluntary Action are looking for vaccination volunteers to help people in need when attending their appointments at Whitley House Surgery. When will I be offered the COVID Vaccine?

As you will be aware, there is a COVID-19 vaccine available for use on all UK patients. Some of our patients are already being vaccinated according to priority as set out by the government. 

The first group of patients were vaccinated at Basildon Hospital. The location for vaccination will be likely to change in the coming weeks. 

Please expect to be contacted for your vaccination appointment according to priority groups. This means only the most vulnerable people will be contacted immediately.

Please do not contact the surgery unless you are convinced that less vulnerable groups are already being vaccinated. 

The current priority list is as follows:

  1. residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
  2. all those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers
  3. all those 75 years of age and over
  4. all those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals
  5. all those 65 years of age and over
  6. all individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
  7. all those 60 years of age and over
  8. all those 55 years of age and over
  9. all those 50 years of age and over

Vasectomy clinic

The vasectomy clinic continues to run during lockdown as vasectomy is an important medical need. We have been taking extra precautions throughout the pandemic to keep the risk of Covid-19 transmission minimal for all patients and staff using our facilities.

Flu Clinics

There are two vaccines again this year

  • 65 years and older by 31 March 2021
  • Over 18 years and under 65 years by 31 March 2021 - eligible patients only
  • 50 - 64 years Vaccinations will NOT be until November and December 2020

Please ensure you book into the correct clinic.

Due to COVID19 we would appreciate your cooperation to keep you, our patients and staff safe. The following measures will be in place.

  • Please only bring essential items with you - your keys and a mask.
  • Weather permitting please leave your coat in your car.
  • Remember to wear your mask at all times when on Surgery premises.
  • We will be operating a one way system.
  • You will enter through the front door as usual where you will be checked in and asked to sanitise your hands and to ensure your clothing is adjusted so the clinician can access your arm. You will then exit through the side fire exit door.
  • Markers will be placed on the floor every 2 meters so that you can maintain social distancing.
  • If you are unwell or decide not to have your vaccination please remember to cancel the appointment so another patient can be seen.

Please bear with us as this is the first time we have needed to operate a flu clinic under these conditions.  


Coronavirus Information

If you have concerns that you may have been exposed to or become infected with the novel coronavirus you should phone NHS 111 and NOT attend the GP surgery or the hospital emergency department.

Based on the scientific advice of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) the UK Chief Medical Officers are advising anyone who has travelled to the UK from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau in the last 14 days and is experiencing cough or fever or shortness of breath, to stay indoors and call NHS 111, even if symptoms are mild.

All travellers from Wuhan and Hubei Province should self-isolate for 14 days, even if they do not have symptoms, due to the increased risk from that area.

Advice for Parents -Coronavirus


NHS Diabetes Advice Helpline

NHS England and NHS Improvement have launched a new helpline in response to disruption to normal diabetes services due to the COVID-19 pandemic and response.

The service is for adults living with diabetes who use insulin to manage their condition and require immediate clinical advice.

Whether you or a member of your household have caught the virus, or routine care has been disrupted, the helpline is available for immediate clinical advice to help you understand how to effectively manage their diabetes.

You can access NHS Diabetes Advice via Diabetes UK's support line on 0345 123 2399 Monday - Friday from 9am-6pm.


Extended Access

GP and nurse appointments will be available in Chelmsford during the evenings and at weekends.

These appointments are offered at North Chelmsford NHS Healthcare Centre (by Sainsburys) from 6:30 - 8:00 pm Monday to Friday and from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm at weekends.

MUG - Mid Essex Under Funding

Mid Essex is one of the most underfunded areas within the NHS. Dr Caroline Dollery, Chair of Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group, says the group receives £81 per head of population less than the national average from the NHS for looking after you.

Just 10,000 signatures means that the Government will respond to the Mid Essex patients' petition - and the response will be published on our website - http://fundingmenhs.simplesite.com/ 100,000 signatures mean that the petition will be considered for debate in Parliament.

Friends and Family Test Results - March 2015

Our friends & Family test has been running for the last 3 months and we are really pleased that most patients would recommend us to family members and friends.

Results are as follows:

  • 17 Patients are Extremely likely to recommend.
  • 2 Patients are likely  to recommend
  • 1 Patient is neither  likely or unlikely to recommend.
  • 1 Patient is unlikely to recommend.

Overall we are pleased with the results and continue to encourage patients to fill in the forms on reception and in with the doctors and also on-line.

Walk in Centre Closure

The walk-in service on the Springfield Sainsbury’s site in Chelmsford closed on 31st March 2016.

Please remember this will not affect the GP Practice on site. The GP practice will remain open as usual offering its registered patients a primary care health service from 8am to 8pm Monday-Friday and for a few hours on a Saturday and Sunday.

You can access local health care services by booking an appointment with your GP. If the surgery is closed you can arrange to see a local out of hours GP by calling NHS 111.

NHS 111 is staffed by a team of fully trained advisors, supported by experienced nurses and paramedics. They will ask questions to assess your symptoms, provide healthcare advice and/or direct you to a local health service that can help you best.

You can also visit your local pharmacy. Your pharmacist will be able to offer advice on prescription medications, as well as a range of common problems, including colds, women’s health, skin conditions, allergies and aches and pains.

Most pharmacies now have a private consultation area where you are able to discuss issues without being overheard by other members of the public. To find your nearest pharmacy visit www.nhs.uk.

Online Services

You can now order your repeat prescriptions, book some doctors appointments, view historic/future appointments and cancel all appointments online.  In order to do this you need to obtain a username and password from the Surgery (Photo ID required).
